Safety tips for buyers

Buying a car safely

Most sellers are honest, but a few simple habits protect you from the rest.

Before you pay

  • Never pay before you have seen the car and its documents. This includes a deposit, a "booking fee" or a transport fee.
  • Check the VIN. The 17-character VIN on the car must match the one in the registration papers and in the ad.
  • Look at the car in daylight and, if you can, take it to a mechanic.
  • Compare the price with similar ads. A price far below the others is a warning sign. The price calculator can help.

When you meet

  • Meet in a public place, and bring someone with you if possible.
  • Do not go alone to a quiet or unknown place.

If you are selling

  • Never accept more than your price and "refund the difference". This is a known scam.
  • Never share a code that arrives by SMS.
  • Hand over the keys and papers only after the money is in your account.

About this site

We never ask for your card details, and we never ask for codes by phone, WhatsApp or Viber. If someone says they are from this site and asks for them, it is a scam. Do not answer, and tell us on the contact page. We never ask you to send money to a person.
